Christmas Star

This is a photo of my dd after her first dance concert, posing in front of our Christmas tree. I love how Scenic Route's Garland collection brings out the Christmas-y feel of the photo. I cut out the Christmas ornament and star motifs from the Garland patterned paper, stickled them and layered them along one side of the photo. 3D foam dots were used for added dimension.

Exploring Golconda Fort

Here's a quick one I did using Basic Grey's Urban Prairie papers (love the cheery pastel colours) and Prima's Build-A-Page sketch. The photo's of my dd and her friends exploring the ruins at Golconda Fort during their recent school trip to India. Situated west of Hyderabad, the 800 year old ruins was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Golconda (c. 1364–1512). This was a history class come alive, being able to see the magnificent architecture and learn the stories behind it with local historians.

Prima BAB Winner!

I'm so excited! I can finally reveal that my Paris Album won third place in Prima's Build-A-Book contest. Can you tell that I'm happy? :) All the winning entries were absolutely gorgeous. Go take a look on the Prima blog.

Here's my winning Paris Album. I really loved playing with the Prima clear acrylic build-a-book album. I used all my favourite Prima products on it - flowers, crystal swirls, crystal centres, clear stamps, pebbles, patterned paper, trims, overlays, clearly IOD transparent tape...





The beauty of clear albums is every page builds upon the pages before and after it. I designed this album with lots of clear spaces so that details from the pages preceding and following it peeked through and added dimension and interest to the other pages. I deliberately went with lots of floral details on this album because they lend lots of textural and visual appeal to the clear album. Anyone who knows me knows I love Prima flowers and crystals so this album was a real pleasure to create. :)

Sue's Edgy Challenge

The Paper Element has new scrapping challenges every week with attractive prizes and this week's my turn to host. My challenge is to create a layout with different decorative edges. There's so much you can do with your borders - ink them, curl them, trim them with decorative scissors or add glitter to them...

In my layout, I inked and distressed the patterned paper and trimmed them with a lace border. For my title, I punched out a border using Fiskars Threading Water punch, inked it, then laid it on top of netting for a different border.

Cupcake Bag Tag

This fun altered Maya Road chipboard cupcake can be used as a gift tag or a bag tag. I used the Bo Bunny papers from Treasured Scrapbooking November's kit on this. First, I embossed the pink patterned paper with a swirl design to give the impression of frosting. I then added some stickles to give it a bit of sparkle. Finally I used pink and white flowers with a gem to give the impression of icing and a cherry on top. I love how it turned out. :)

Off We Go!

This is a layout of my daughter and her friends heading off to India on an exchange programme. The journalling's all hers and I included a journalling tag hidden behind the patterned papers for even more journalling to record her memories of the trip.

The layout uses My Mind's Eye papers and other supplies from Coordinates Collections' Lots of Laughs Kit for which I am Guest DT in November.

I did this using the November kit from Treasured Scrapbooking. Papers are from Piggy Tales Itsy Bitsy Spider collection. I cut out images from the pp and popped them up using 3D foam dots for dimension. Piggy Tales also has these cute barn doors which are great for hidden journalling or hidden photos. I tucked mine behind the photo.

Listen to your heart

I did this using the Nov kit from Coordinates Collections. Lots of Pink Paislee yummy goodies here. I inked the edges of the patterned paper for definition and for dimension and texture, used flowers, ribbons, trims and 3D foam dots.

A Z-Fold Card

I made this fun card using the Pink Paislee papers that came in Coordinates Collections Lots of Laughs kit. It's got a Z-fold and the greeting/message is behind the square of flowers.

Sue's Bag Tag

I altered a Maya Road chipboard tag and used 5 Purple Onion Stamps for this little project. The background started off as cream cardstock which I first stamped and heat embossed using clear embossing powder. I then sprayed glimmer mist over the cardstock, and while the mist was still wet, wiped off the embossed area to reveal the stamped image.

Paris

I decided to try something different with this layout. So I pulled out a number of my Purple Onion stamps and made a collage with them. I stamped and embossed on little squares of patterned paper, inking the edges of each one. Then I built a collage mat out of the little squares forming the mat for my photo.

I folded back the corner of the layout to reveal a little flower cluster. The swirls are Purple Onion stamps.

This flower cluster sits upon a transparency stamped with Purple Onion's Vintage Ornate frame. Love this stamp!

Look At Me!

Here's one I did for a challenge I'm hosting this month at Treasured Scrapbooking. It's a photo of my friend's daughter who obviously has no fear of albino snakes. Shudder!

I love embellishments. My favourites are flowers, bling and chipboards. So my challenge this month as Guest Designer at Treasured Scrapbooking is to use at least one flower (fabric, paper, metal, any kind of flower), some glitz and glitter (crystals, sequins...) and chipboard (raw, altered, painted, glittered... doesn't matter) on your layout. Easy right?

In my layout, I cut out flowers from the Scenic Route pattern paper and glitzed them up with Rangers stickles.


I used a Maya Rd chipboard butterfly, Maya Misted, stickled and inked it and stuck on a crystal swirl for the butterfly trail.


Lots of challenges and contests going on at Treasured Scrapbooking. Give it a shot and you could just win something. :)

Treasured Scrapbooking Guest Designer

I'm guest designing for Treasured Scrapbooking this month and look at the goodies I got to play with. :)



Lots of goodies from Kaisercraft, Piggy Tales, Bo Bunny, Making Memories and American Crafts. And even some Teresa Collins dome rings to alter. :) I've been looking for those rings so I was really happy when I saw it in my kit.
