My Scrapbook Nook Feb Kit

So this arrived in the mail for me a couple of days ago, the February kit from My Scrapbook Nook. How gorgeous is this kit? Filled to the brim with Jenni Bowlin pp, Maya Road velvet flowers, Making Memories Love Note tickets, Prima lace, Scenic Route chipboard houses and so much more. The kit's so popular it's almost sold out but no worries, because Leah's re-ordering so no one will be left disappointed. So if you like what you see, hop on over to the Nook for a full description of the kit and what the DT's come up with.

I dived into the kit right after Chinese New Year and completed one layout and am starting on my second. I'll upload pix of these soon.

I've also completed my mini album for Purple Onion Designs. Actually, I wouldn't quite call it a mini. :D It just grew and grew. I'll upload that later as well.

Thanks for dropping by. Back with more layouts soon.

Here's something I did for my DT stint at Gauche Alchemy. I gathered up the vintage music sheets, fabric, trim, patterned paper and metal embellishments from Gauche Alchemy's lovely January kit and decided I had to make a vintage shabby-chic wall hanging. I used one of my favourite photos of my dh and dd taken on our recent holiday and am really pleased with how it turned out.

This is my first attempt at something like this and I'm going to be doing more. This one's for my dh and my dd's requested one as well. :)

Here I used lots of soft embellishments like lace trims, sheer ribbons and fabric and contrasted it with a string of pearls and a metal charm that says 'laugh'.

Thanks for coming by and to everyone celebrating Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai! :)

Sweet Indulgence

A sweet layout I did using Basic Grey's Bittersweet line. Love these papers and chipboards. The combination of pink, raspberry and chocolate is sweet yet not overly so.

Cutouts from the patterned paper, layered with Prima flowers and Basic Grey chipboard accents and Rangers stickles liberally applied.

The layout is inspired by a really great Pagemaps sketch.

Garden Birthday Card

I wanted to try making a birthday card with a difference so went for a circle-shaped card with lots of dimension. The card's for a little lady so I went with lots of Prima flowers in cheery spring colours, a glittery butterfly, pretty pink ribbon and circled the card with dainty lace. :)

I hope the birthday girl liked the card. :)

Sue's Sweetheart Challenge

I'm hosting this week's challenge over at The Paper Element. As Valentine's Day is just around the corner I find myself drawn towards patterned papers in red, white and pink, sweet embellishments with heart motifs in them and oh-so-pretty blossoms. So my challenge this week is to scrap something with pink and hearts in it. It can be a layout, an altered item or even a card, so long as it has some pink and hearts in it. It doesn't need to be a Valentine's Day layout.

Here I altered a door hanger using pink patterned paper from The Paper Element's Sweet collection and cut out a heart from matching Toria pp. I embellished with lots of pretty Prima flowers, buttons (check out the little red heart-shaped one), pearls and a little metal butterfly.

Check out The Paper Element for more details of the challenge. You don't need to use The Paper Element products for your entry but we'd love to see what you can create with them. You have until the end of the month to submit your entries for a chance at an attractive prize. :)

Blog Awards

I recently received two blogger awards.

This one from Stacey,

and this one from Veronica

Thanks so much ladies! I'm wondering if the two are the same awards as they both bear the same name. So it's my turn now to nominate 7 talented and creative bloggers, and they are:

All these ladies are super talented scrappers from Singapore. Very different styles but oh so inspiring. :)

Gauche Alchemy's January Kit is up and it's filled with lots of ephemera and vintage findings, as well as beautiful fabric, rubber stamps, patterned paper and metal embellishments. You can see the full kit here: January Kit

I'm Guest Designing for Gauche Alchemy this month and here's what I came up with for my first layout:

The theme for this month's kit is Valentine's Day inspired but I opted to do a nature-themed one instead. Love the Oopsie Daisy postcard ("Oops, I've been knotty"), the teal and white fabric (which I cut out and stickled) and the Bombshell rubber stamps (Butterfly Queen).

Go take a look at what the other designers came up with. Love the shadowbox Amy created and I can't wait to see Heather's and Yasu's creations. :)

Thank You Gift Tag

I needed a gift tag for a thank you present we were giving away so I whipped this one up quickly, using Purple Onion's Thank You Noteblock stamp and patterned papers from The Paper Element and Basic Grey. I wanted a slightly rustic look to the tag so did some distressing and inking, and wrapped some packaging string around the tag. I completed the tag with matching Prima flowers.

Hello Beautiful!

This is the second layout I did on our horse trails in New Zealand. It uses the same Crate Paper Prudence collection as the first layout. I love this collection and think it goes so well with the photos. I intend to do a few more in the series.

For this layout I used Purple Onion Design's Hello Noteblock stamp, and incorporated that into the title. I also crackle painted some chipboard swirls. Love the rustic effect it gave.

And to soften the more boyish hues of blues, olives and browns in the layout, I added a cluster of flowers with a dash of peach.

Gauche Alchemy Kit

The mailman delivered my Gauche Alchemy January kit on New Year's Eve in the late afternoon - his last delivery for 2008. As Amy promised, the kit was filled with lots of fun goodies. :) So I dug right into it and created my first layout as Guest DT. The layout goes up on the Gauche Alchemy blog next week but here are some sneakies:

As you can see from the photos, there are fabrics and a set of stamps in the kit too! Fun! Lots more goodies in the kit which I am exploring for my next layout. :)

I Could Do This Everyday

While in New Zealand, we went on a couple of horse treks in the beautiful countryside, one of which was through Paradise where several scenes from the Lord of the Rings were filmed. It was a wonderful experience, interacting with the horses and taking in the beauty of the land. My daughter enjoyed it so much she declared she could do this everyday. Hence the title of this layout.

And I found the perfect stamps to work with on this layout, Purple Onion Date Me stamps. The stamps feature months of the year and days of the week and I liked how the circular day stamp worked really well for the placement of my title. I also love how the colours of Crate Paper's Prudence Collection evokes a feel of being back in nature.
