Reflect

I wanted to try something different with this layout so I tore up strips of Lily Bee patterned paper and used that as a mat for my photo. I like how the one little red bird in the pp stands out and how it complements the birds in the photo.

The photo was taken by a lake in New Zealand where it was just so peaceful and tranquil. Settings like this make me think, reflect and contemplate. Hence the title "Reflect".

List of Supplies:
Lily Bee patterned paper and Maya Road flower from My Scrapbook Nook's May kit;
Flowers - Prima;
Crystals - Prima;
Lace & trim - own stash;

{Heart}

Some of the design team members at Graphic 45 decided to use three of the same Communique papers and see how different our layouts would turn out to be for our Same Papers Different Styles feature. The papers we all used were:

And this is my layout using the three Communique papers:

I kept the lines on this layout clean with quite a bit of white space. To balance the layout I added a mini cluster on the top right, which is where I placed the title {Heart}. The title is short for "I {heart} you", a play on popular current jargon. The contemporary title is juxtaposed against the old style forms of communication featured in the patterned papers, such as old world rotary phones, to bring out the contrast between old and new.

The title is stamped using Great Circus alphabet stamps from Purple Onion Designs. The font on this alpha is beautiful and as with all Purple Onion rubber stamps, the image is fantastically crisp.

The flower centre here is made from Prima lace.

Bird Card

This is a quick card I made for my card class at My Scrapbook Nook using their May kit. It's an all-occasion card. You can use it for birthdays (hoppy bird-day?), travel (taking flight?), and even Christmas (imagine that's a dove) :D

Lily Bee's Three Little Birds collection goes so well with the Maya Road chipboard bird tag I just had to use the chipboard on the card. I altered the chipboard bird with the lily bee papers and embellished it using lace and a generous application of Rangers stickles.

The card is tri-fold and closed tight using a brown satin ribbon.

You can see the card class here: Nook card class

Escape

Here's another layout I created using My Scrapbook Nook's May kit. The Lily Bee Three Little Birds papers are just perfect for a nature shot. This one's of my dd by a stream in New Zealand.

To complement the photo and the papers, I made my own little apple trees. I glimmer misted the little Maya Road chipboard trees and added little red gems as apples.

And what's a photo by the stream and chipboard apple trees without a fluffy white cloud and little bluebird. :) I made the cloud from cotton wool and the glimmer misted and crackle accented the little bluebird. Love the crackled effect.

That Webster's Pages ruffled ribbon is absolutely gorgeous and it inspired me to make a border of distressed and fancy edges.

Supplies

Patterned Paper : Lily Bee's Three Little Birds Collection
Chipboard Trees & Bird: Maya Road
Ruffled Ribbon: Webster's Pages
Alphas: Basic Grey
Gems: Kaisercraft

Everything's Coming Up Roses

Over at Graphic 45, some of the design team members decided to create layouts using the same three patterned papers from the new Fashionista collection. These were the three papers:

As all the papers are double-sided, every single layout came out looking really different. Some were more vintage, some romantic, some more graphic and some artistic. You can see what the other design team members did here: Same papers, different styles

And here's my layout using the three patterned papers:

The photos were taken at a rose garden in New Zealand and I thought the Potpourri paper would be perfect for the photos. complemented by some flowers from Prima and Bazzil as well as some pretty lace and pearl embellishments.

If you decide to give this a try, upload your layouts to our gallery. We'd love to see what you do with the same three patterned papers. :)

Kayaking Fun

Here's another layout I did using Graphic 45's Transatlantique papers. I like how different this layout is from my earlier one using the same collection. While "Parisian Sights" has a warm, vintagey feel, this one's all about being bright, breezy and crisp. I used the brighter blue tones in the Transatlantique collection and kept the lines clean with no distressing at all. I really like that the Transatlantique papers have several papers with a nautical reference which were just right for my photos on kayaking.

To give some texture to the otherwise clean and 2-dimensional layout, I added chipboard flocked alphas, a metallic tag, lace and lots of flowers.

If you like Graphic 45 papers, you're going to love this. A Million Memories is having a Graphic 45 contest as part of their NSD celebrations. More will be revealed at A Million Memories on Friday so don't forget to check it out. :)

List of Supplies:

Patterned Papers - Graphic 45's Transatlantique Collection
Flowers - Prima
Alphas - Forever in Time flocked chipboard conts
Metal Embellishment - K & Company
Lace - unknown
