Happy New Year!

Would you believe it's 2011 already? Happy New Year Everyone!

And here's an altered clipboard calendar to start you off on the new year:

I created this for PaperMarket using Webster's Pages' Sweet Season collection. I love this peaches and herb colour combo. It's so soft and romantic, perfect for a shabby-chic project.

The vintage-style calendar surrounded by layers of lace, muslin, Prima flowers and pearls, Webster's bloomers and Anna Griffin butterflies.

Whimsical butterfly wings on the dress form with a rose corsage on the waistline.

I think I might just have to make another of this altered clipboard calendar for myself as this one's going to PaperMarket.

Have a blessed year ahead!

Cab-It

Here's a layout I created for Your Scrapbook Stash using Jillibean Soup's Pasta Fagioli collection. Straight lines & rectangles, softened with scalloped edges, lace, flowers and crystal flourishes.

I like how the yellow patterned paper goes perfectly with the cab in the photo. And how I found just the perfect Prima flowers to go with the layout. :)

Just two more days to the end of 2010. Time sure flies!

Zva Creative December DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY!  As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, December 27th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, December 28th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 29th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Here's my Zva creation:

I used cream pearl flourishes and a white flower from Zva Creative to create a corner frame for my photo. Patterned papers are from Webster's Pages Sweet Season collection. I love the soft look of the patterned paper complemented by the neutral cream embellishments. The title of the layout is named after the horse in the photo.

Some close-ups:

The white Zva flower sits atop a seam binding ribbon bouquet fringed by Zva pearl flourishes.

Journalling is written on some small manila tags tucked into a corner of the layout.

The photo sits on a double mat created by die cut butterflies and a frame cut out from the Sweet Season pattern papers. And those very pretty chipboard alphas are from PaperMarket's own inhouse brand, Alpha-Bites.

The blog hop begins here: Kim Hughes

Your next stop is here: Benedicte Raphalen

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us.

Why, hello there!

A clean layout from me, deviating from my usual intensely layered style. And look, no 3D flowers, lace or bling. Just patterned paper and cardstock on this layout.

This is for Your Scrapbook Stash using papers from Bella Boulevard's Socialite papers and some white paint to define the borders.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! It's amazing how time flies when you're having fun.

I just realized that I haven't posted these Christmas ornaments I created for PaperMarket's make and take last month. Papers are from Basic Grey's Jovial collection. Chipboards from Maya Road.

Christmas Butterflies

A couple of butterfly ornaments for the Christmas Tree or a topper for Christmas prezzies.

I used patterned papers from Basic Grey's Jovial collection, flowers from Zva Creative, some hand-dyed crinkle seam binding and pearls & pearl pins from my own stash.

Would you believe it's already the 24th of December already? And I haven't wrapped my Christmas prezzies yet. Yikes! Nor started on Christmas dinner prep. Double yikes!

I'm back!

I'm back from my vacation in Queensland. :) It was a great holiday. Fun, relaxing, exciting, adrenalin-filled... Lots of horse riding, roller-coaster rides, dining...

Cantering along the beach was awesome. Wish I could do more of that. Anyone know where would be some great places to go riding at?

I've been away for 2 weeks and have lots of scrapping catching up to do. I have some deadlines to meet and will also be visiting your blogs soon.

Before I went on my holiday I was busy creating Christmas ornaments. Here's one I created using Basic Grey's Jovial collection for Your Scrapbook Stash. Lots of punch-outs, tedious gluing and finally topped off with my hand-dyed seam binding.

For lots more Christmas ideas, do visit the YSS gallery. And speaking of Your Scrapbook Stash, Erica's announced her all-new Design Team for 2011. Read all about it here: New YSS DT  Congrats ladies! You'll have a fantastic time on the YSS DT.

Better Than Bling

PaperMarket is having its 12 Days of Christmas Celebration and today's Day 5 - my day. :)

And here's the layout I created with the theme for the day - Bling! So appropriate, wouldn't you say? Bling, flowers and inks are some of my favourite embellishments.

Lots and lots of texture and layering on this shabby-chic layout. It's probably one of my current favourites. I used Basic Grey's Curio collection, layered with lots of lace, muslin and seam binding. The patterned paper lends itself beautifully to hand-cut details and what better way to embellish it than  with flowers and of course bling.

Some close-ups:

The title is in reference to the journalling, in which I wrote about my wishes for the new year.

I hardly ever scrap photos of myself. In this instance, I had to for the assignment and I took a self-portrait with my new (well, not that new anymore) toy - my Nikon D90. It's been so much fun experimenting and learning to take better photos.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comments. I really enjoy reading them. :)

Heart Christmas Ornament

All December the Tattered Angels team will be demonstrating how well the glimmer mediums work on glass. Over the last couple of days I've shown you my projects using glimmer glam and glimmer glaze on glass Christmas ornaments. This next one is slightly different.

I picked up this clear heart-shaped ornament from a craft store. Instead of painting the whole heart in just one shade of glimmer glaze, I decided to paint with it. I first stamped a large flourish from My Tattered Angels' glimmer screens on the glass heart as a guide. The great thing about the acrylic stamp is that you can mould it to fit the curvatures on the 3D heart. After that, I painted on the flourish using Glimmer Glaze in Flirty. Then, for an iridescent shimmer of translucent opal, I painted on Glimmer Glam in Chandelier on the inside of the heart.

The ornament is finished off with some silk and cotton ribbons, a string of pearls and a delicate rose from Zva Creative.

Have you checked out the Laines Papeterie and PaperMarket blogs? There's a special 12 Days of Christmas event starting today. Lots of inspiration and surprises in store for shoppers. I'll be back with my Laines/PaperMarket in a few days. Do check back then. :)

Glass Christmas Ornament Part 2

Hi there! Here's the second of the glass Christmas ornaments I created for My Tattered Angels:

This bauble started off the same way as the earlier ornament - a plain glass sphere. With this one, I first painted on My Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in Flirty, a bright red. You'd be amazed at how well the glaze goes on glass. To give it a touch of glitter, I painted on Glimmer Glam in Big Apple. This time I went for a mottled look on glass with an uneven texture.

That gorgeous crystal butterfly is from Zva Creative. It's so pretty and comes in many colours.

To top it off, more of my hand-dyed crinkled seam binding, this time in variegated green.

Thanks for dropping by. I'll be posting another Christmas ornament in a couple of days. Do check back then.  :)

Supplies:
My Tattered Angels - Flirty Glimmer Glaze, Big Apple Glimmer Glam.
Zva Creative - Butterfly crystal flourish (CRB-03CB-108)

Glass Christmas Ornament Part 1

This month, the Tattered Angels design team will be showing you how to work those glimmer mediums on glass.

Here's the first of my projects - an altered Christmas glass ornament:

The ornament started off as a plain glass bauble, which I painted with Tattered Angels glimmer glaze in Emerald Cove. I deliberately applied the glaze in short strokes, creating a streaky look. I then added a Prima poinsettia and some Prima crystal flourishes and finally topped off with my hand-dyed variegated seam binding in shades of red. All done and ready for the Christmas tree. :)

I'll be posting more Tattered Angels altered items over the next couple of days. Check back then. :)

Happy Holidays!

One for the holidays using Fancy Pants' Tradition papers, available from Your Scrapbook Stash.

Some lace on the curved strip and stickles on the Christmas ornaments:

And some Zva Creative flowers and pearl flourish on the corner of the photo:

How's this for subtlety? A stamped image of a Tim Holtz bird in barely there accent.

Thanks for dropping by. :)

Wishes Tag

As you can tell I really enjoy making tags. Here's one I made for PaperMarket:

I used a standard #8 manila tag and misted away with My Tattered Angels glimmer mists. I also used some Tim Holtz stamps, film strips, tissue tape and Basic Grey's Jovial papers.

Some close-ups:

And here's the back of the tag:

More mists, Tim Holtz stamps, distress stickles, distress inks and Basic Grey Jovial papers.

Some close-ups:

All supplies are available from PaperMarket. And have you checked out the new chipboard alphas from PaperMarket? They look pretty amazing. :)

Thanks for dropping by!
