Zva Creative February DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY!  As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, February 28th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, March 1st and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 2nd on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Here's my Zva creation:

I created a layout on a piece of acrylic. I stamped my own background using my favourite butterfly image from My Tattered Angels. I kept the design simple as I wanted the background to show through.

This month I'm showing off some orange and ginger collections from Zva. I've used one of my favourite bling swirls from Zva here, the oh-so-elegant butterfly with crystal and pearl swirls.

A pretty floral bouquet of orange, olive and ivory flowers atop some hand-crinkled seam binding.

The blog hop begins here: Kim Hughs
Your next stop is here: Ingrid Danvers

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us.

List of Materials:
Flowers - Zva Creative 3D Roses
Crystals - Zva Creative Fancy Butterfly Pearl/Crystal Peach/Champagne PEB-03CB-110
Patterned Paper - Basic Grey Curio
Clear Stamp - My Tattered Angels

The new Sweetly Smitten collection from Sassafras Lass has arrived in Singapore. :) I had the chance to play with it a couple of weeks ago when PaperMarket brought home samples from CHA and passed them to me. Here's what I created:

I love this new collection of soft colours and sweet flowers. I decided I would create a soft shabby-sweet layout of flowers paired with layers of muslin cloth and crinkled seam binding.

The flowers you see in the layout are from Sassafras' new Foldies die-cut paper. All you need to create a 3D effect is punch them out and then fold along the seam. I arranged the flowers in a circle, varying the heights with 3D pop dots for even more dimension. The backing patterned paper was distressed and crumpled, and over it I lay some soft muslin and crinkled seam binding for more texture and depth.

Other details:

The titlework, using Sassafras sticker alphas.

Another view to see all the dimension.

Visit PaperMarket and Laines for your Sassafras Lass fix. And lots more new arrivals. I did. :)

Mad Hatters

A couple of weeks ago, my crazy scrappy friend, Evelyn, held a Mad Hatters party and all her guests were invited to alter hats for the party. No hat and it's "Off with your head!!!"

So here's my altered hat:

I used Graphic 45's Halloween in Wonderland and Steampunk Debutante papers, and some lovely flowers and bling from Zva Creative.

Some close-ups:

Crystals - Zva Creative crystal flourish CRB-03CB-10B
Flowers - Zva Creative
Patterned Paper - Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland & Steampunk Debutante
Seam binding, tulle & string of pearls - own stash.

Grungy Canvas Tag

I had fun creating this grungy canvas tag with My Tattered Angels glimmer mists and Tim Holtz stamps. I went for an unusual marigold and forest colour combination of Glimmer Mists in Sun Sisters, Tiger Lily and Forest Green, layered with Glimmer Glam in Chandelier and Peach Bellini in between. I really like how you can build up the layers of mists and glam to create textures and free-flowing colours.

To complete the canvas tag, I stamped a couple of my favourite Tim Holtz stamp images on to the tag in black, then heat embossed them for added texture. The wrinkled seam binding was also hand-dyed with matching glimmer mists of green.

Webster's Banner of the Week

I woke up this morning to an email from Dena telling me that my"Smile" layout is banner of the week at Webster's Pages! What a great way to start the day. :)

Featured member:

Thanks so much Dena! I can't wait for all the new CHA releases from Webster's Pages to reach our shores. Maybe I could just raid Jaz's or Em's homes for them. :D

If you'd like to see details of the featured layout, just scroll down to my post below or visit Webster's. :)

Have you seen the exclusive PaperMarket Prima Blooms? I love the colour selection, the variety of sizes in the blooms, and most of all, the little leaves that come with them.

Here's what I created with them, a layout using Webster's Pages' Spring Market collection:

I layered the layout with some muslin, handcut details from the patterned papers, crinkled seam binding, punched borders and of course the lovely Prima flowers.

Some details:

Thanks for dropping by. :)

An Embossed Metal Card

Have you tried Tattered Angels mists, glams and glazes on metal? I did and I love the effect. Here's the card I made for Tattered Angels.

I found a sheet of thin metal foil in my kitchen cabinet and ran this through my embossing machine with a Tim Holtz texture plate. I then painted it with Tattered Angels Tide Pool glimmer glam and Waterfall glaze and turned this embossed and painted metal into a greeting card. Don’t you love the shine of blue against the silver metal?

I used the new chalkboard mist in Alaskan Salmon on the chipboard scallop oval.

Gotta love all the textures and dimension going on in this card. And not a flower in sight. ;)

Ride - Enjoy the Journey

I just realized I haven't posted this layout I created for Your Scrapbook Stash using Jillibean Soup papers. It's a cleaner, flatter graphic style - read: No flowers, bling, and lace. :)

Splashes of paint on kraft cardstock and stamps on manila tags.

One of my favourite phrase stamps from Tim Holtz.

Gotta like that bright yellow pom-pom and orange ric-rac. :)

Altered Candy Jar

It's Chinese New Year's Eve today and I thought it would be most appropriate to share a sweet project with you. It's an altered candy jar I created for PaperMarket.

I went for a sweet colour combo of pink and mint (my favourite colour combo at the moment) and created a little fairy garden on the lid.

A close-up of the garden, with little fairies sprinkling fairy dust on the flowers.

Gotta love the Martha Stewart border punches and bloomer trims from Webster's and Maya Road.

The 3 dimensional fairy garden from a different angle.

A happy and prosperous Chinese New Year to everyone celebrating it! :)
