Zva Creative October DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our September Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blog! Be sure to head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was will be sharing a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Before I show you my Zva Creative layout this month, I'd just like to say that this will be my last Zva Creative blog hop. I've decided to step down with the end of my term this month and have not re-applied for another term. It has been a wonderful two and a half years on Zva Creative and I've had a blast. Thank you Carolyn and Windy for letting me create with your awesome products.

And here's my layout for the blog hop:

I've showcased Zva Creative's purple crystals complemented by some lovely Zva flowers in orange, yellow, purple and white.

The patterned paper is Graphic 45's latest Place In Time collection married with their Happy Haunting collection.

Some close-ups:

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!

Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, October 29th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, October 30th.

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 31st on Zva Creative's blog. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva's blog on Wednesday.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:

* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.

*Hop over to Zva's blog and leave a comment there to tell us that you made it there!

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's blog. Your next stop is Karen Shady. Enjoy!

Thank you for joining us!

Happy Haunting Mini Album

Do you like taking polaroid or instax photos, jotting your thoughts on little notes and just sticking them into a book? That's what I had in mind when I made this Halloween Mini Album. I gathered up my Graphic 45 Happy Haunting papers, some manila tags, cardstock papers and May Arts Ribbons. Then I simply bound them together using a quick and effective bookbinding technique. What I liked about this mini album is I could use up the smaller scraps of patterned paper I had left over from earlier projects and just bind them into the book. Then it was just a matter of finding my favourite embellishments and decorating the album with them. Happy Haunting chipboards and stickers were especially fun as they coordinated perfectly. Then for some spooky goodness, I added brown netting from May Arts Ribbons in between the pages for a cobweb feel. And then into my stash of leaves I went and found a lovely skeleton leaf to place on the cover, along with some black and white leaves and brown flowers which I'd recently bought from my holiday to Bangkok. I've made a video tutorial on how I created the album using a simple bookbinding technique, as well as a clip of the album so you can see all the pages inside. Have fun making up your own Halloween Mini Album.

Here's the video tutorial:

And here's a look at the inside pages:

Zva Creative DT Call

Have you applied for the Zva Creative DT Call? Today's the last day to get your applications in. I've been on the Zva Creative for the last two and a half years and I have to say they are a wonderful design team to be on. Carolyn's very generous with her gorgeous products and she and Windy are a pleasure to work with.

Much as I love Zva Creative products and being on the wonderful DT, I've decided to step down when my term ends this month and will not be re-applying. I will continue to use Zva Creative products in my projects I'm sure and will be looking out for them at my LSS, PaperMarket.

If you love flowers and bling, do send in your application to Zva Creative. And remember to join us in our October DT Blog Hop on Monday 29 October.

See you then.

I decided to have a go at making macarons and I have to say I'm really quite pleased with this first solo attempt of mine.

Here are the macaron shells straight out of the oven. And happiness, they have feet!

And here they are, with a morning cup of green tea. I went simple with the fillings on this first attempt - chocolate-hazelnut buttercream and cookies and cream. They do taste rather yummy and I'm particularly pleased with the texture of the shell. I think I'm going to try an Eastern-inspired flavour next. :)

Altered Wooden Frame

Here's a video tutorial I created for May Arts on how to pretty up a plain wooden frame with May Arts ribbons, a couple of flowers and some leaves. All you need is to insert your favourite photo and you've got yourself a pretty home decor or quick gift.
