Aidan & My Adler

I was taking a photo of my newly-arrived vintage Adler Tippa typewriter when my dog, Aidan, decided he wanted in on the photo shoot too. So he jumped right into the shot and posed next to the typewriter. What can I say? Aidan became the star of the shoot. What I like best about the photograph is I got a nice shot of Aidan. He normally doesn't stop to pose for the camera and all I get are blurry candid shots.

Zva Creative September DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our September Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blog! Be sure to head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was will be sharing a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Here's my Zva Creative layout:

I'm showcasing the blues on this layout - a beautiful blue pearl and crystal Zva flourish, and some blue and olive Zva flowers. Don't you love this little white foal? It's the sweetest little thing. :)

Some close-ups:

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!

Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, September 24th and runs through 11:59pm US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, September 25th.

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, August 29th on Zva Creative's blog. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva's blog on Wednesday.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:

* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.

*Hop over to Zva's blog and leave a comment there to tell us that you made it there!

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's blog. Your next stop is Karen Shady. Enjoy!

Thank you for joining us!

P.S. Mark your calendar to join us again on October 29th for our next Zva blog hop!

Royal Typer Layout

I purchased this vintage Royal Typewriter recently and had to scrap a layout on it.

The typewriter's a Royal Portable Duo Tone in blue, circa 1930. About 500 of these were manufactured in the 1930s in various duo-tone shades, each one of them unique.

I used Zva Creative's flowers and crystals for this layout.

And created a lace and trim border using May Arts Ribbons.

A sample typecast from the typewriter. And don't you think it apt that I found a stamp in my stash of a Royal typewriter?

I created a video tutorial on how I made this layout. Check it out on the May Arts blog: http://www.mayarts.com/blog/layout-creating-a-ribbon-border/

Thanks for dropping by.

Fun Halloween Layout On Acrylic Tutorial

I'm up on the Graphic 45 blog today with this tutorial.

Here's a fun layout that's really quick and easy to make. It's created on a sheet of clear acrylic which gives it a different feel. I made this as a store decor for my local scrapbooking store, PaperMarket. But the idea can easily be adapted into a Halloween decor for your home by changing the words to something along the lines of A Witching Welcome! Or you could just adhere your favourite Halloween photograph onto it for a Halloween layout.

Let's begin.

1. What you'll need is some Happy Haunting papers and a clear sheet of acrylic. Mine measures 12x6 inches.

2. Cut a sheet of Bewitched paper into 6x5 inches. Tear the paper into two in a curvy line. Attach it to the top and bottom of the acrylic as shown.

3. Cut a sheet of Word Play paper into 6x4 inches. Tear that into 2 in a random curvy manner and adhere it to the top and bottom of the acrylic, under the Bewitched papers.

4. Select a few of your favourite images from the Happy Haunting papers and cut them out. You'll have a whale of a time doing this as there are so many images to choose from in this collection. Here's what I used.

5. Stick these images to your layout, using 3D foam dots for more dimension.

Some close-ups, showing how 3D foam dots add so much dimension to a simple layout.

6. Add on your greetings or photograph and you're done.

Here's another layout I created using the same method:

Graphic 45 Happy Haunting Papers - Trick or Treat, Pumpkin Time, Midnight Magic, Man In The Moon, Jolly Jack-O-Lantern, Jeeper's Creeper's, Bewitched

A Graphic 45 Birthday Card

It's Diane's birthday and everyone at Graphic 45's celebrating. :)

Happy Birthday Diane!

I used Graphic 45's Bird Song papers to create this birthday card and wrote Happy Birthday in Chinese on the chipboard. The Chinese characters read 'sheng ri kuai le' which means Happy Birthday!

The Nutcracker

Here's a layout I created for Graphic 45 using their new Christmas collection, The Nutcracker Sweet.

Several years ago, my daughter danced in the Singapore Dance Theatre's production of the classic Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker. Here I've scrapped cast photos as well as the programme and backstage pass of that performance. The papers from The Nutcracker Sweet were perfect for the photos, especially the scenes featuring The Land of Sweets. :)

Supplies:
Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet Collection - Nutcracker Sweet, Holiday Magic, Gingerbread Delights, Land of Sweets, Christmas March, Sugar Plum Fairy,

A Ladies Diary Lace Card

Here's a card I created using Graphic 45's A Ladies Diary patterned papers and Zva Creative's pearl flourish.

I lined the bottom of the card front with a hem of eyelet lace and black trim - my idea of a 'skirt' for the card.

The pearl flourish from Zva Creative.
