Wish You Were Here

This is a layout I created using the new Bohemian Bazaar collection in a clean style. The design is kept centred, with lots of white space surrounding it, allowing the eyes to be drawn to the photo and the collage. The fussy cut flowers are complemented by the matching flowers from Petaloo and chipboard buttons extend vertically beyond the flower cluster.

Hakone

I recently went on a holiday to Japan and one of the cities I visited was Hakone, which is famous for its hot springs, natural scenery and art museums. We took the Odakyu Railway from Tokyo to Hakone, and then boarded the Hakone Tozan Rail, the oldest rail network in Japan, which took us to our destination. The train, which is the subject of my layout, brought us on a slow ride through scenic wooded areas, valleys and over rail bridges.

What better Graphic 45 collection to scrap a layout on Japan than Bird Song, with all its Japanese-influenced images. Here I’ve layered lots of patterned paper, doilies and fussy-cut images, creating texture with 3D pop dots and distressed edges.

The layout also features hidden journaling. Here’s the journaling tag nicely tucked into the layout:

And here’s the journaling tag revealed:

Here’s the layout from another angle, showing the layers in it:

Time Flies Card Tutorial

Here’s a quick card I made using Graphic 45’s new Steampunk Spells collection. This collection is perfect for Halloween cards but I wanted to make one for a fun all-purpose greeting. So here it is, playing on the phrase ‘Time Flies when you’re having fun.”

Supplies List:

Steampunk Spells Vintage Voyage, Tick-Tock, Beware

Tutorial:

1. What you’ll need:

This card makes use of just 3 sheets of Steampunk Spells patterned papers – Vintage Voyage, Tick-Tock and Beware.
a)    Trim a 9 x 6.5 inch sheet from Beware
b)   Cut three clocks from Tick-Tock, one in each size; and the words ‘Time Flies’.
c)    Select a rectangular panel from Vintage Voyage

2. Fold the Beware patterned paper in half to form the base of your card. Attach the rectangular panel from Vintage Voyage on to the card base.

3. Stick on the words ‘Time Flies’ as shown and write ‘when you’re having fun’ below it.

4. Attach the clocks using dimensional dots as shown and you’re done.
