Graphic 45 Christmas Card

Is it too early to be making Christmas cards? ;-) I received my box from Graphic 45 and just felt I had to play a little with the Graphic 45 Christmas Past papers, so I whipped this one up. I wanted a monochromatic cream card evoking Peace, so went with all the cream coloured papers in the collection. To give the card some texture, I added some delicate lace, a lightly misted doily and popped up the picture of the angel with dimensional foam dots.

I just realized my last few posts have been of cards, an altered project and a mini album. No layouts. So not typical of me. Anyway, I'm working on a couple of layouts now while waiting for my DT kits to arrive. One of the boxes is a big surprise which I can't wait to get my hands on. I'm so excited about it but I can't reveal anything yet. :)

Club Med Mini Album

Here's a quick mini album I whipped up yesterday using more of My Scrapbook Nook's lovely September Kit. I normally take a long time to complete a mini, and never in a day, so I'm quite pleased with myself.

The mini album's of our recent holiday to Club Med during the September holidays. The girls loved it, being away from the stress of studying for their PSLE, a major national exam for 12 year olds in Singapore. No books, no revision, no cramming. Just a few days of pure fun with good friends. We went with like-minded friends who believe that having fun and relaxing are important in the run-up to a major exam. The break's given the girls time to recharge their batteries and hopefully, they'll all perform well in the exams.

Back to the album. I played with crackled paint on the Maya Road chipboard album. Love that slightly vintage look created by the uneven ink and crackle effect.

The postage chipboard album is quite small, so I went with a simple design, allowing the photos to take centre stage. I kept to the same template for the pages so the album would look cohesive, It also made it easy to complete the album within a day. I'm probably going to add more elements to the back of the front cover. It looks a little bare now.

Each page had a photo matt, a flower, leaves and a crystal swirl. On the left of the album, I've created journalling pages using the journalling tags from Pink Paislee's Amber Road papers. My daughter will journal her thoughts in them later.

A very tedious part of the album was cutting out the little notches on the patterned paper to fit over the chipboard pages, then sanding them down, inking them...

For the back of each page, I went with the ink and crackled paint effect. I like the streaky effect it created, especially obvious on the green pages.

A view of all the back pages.

I'll be adding more pages to the album. Lots more photos of the myriad of activities the girls enjoyed. :)

Altered Notebook

I altered this notebook as a gift, using Graphic 45's new Domestic Goddess papers.

Some close-ups:

I gave the lady a pearl bracelet and a diamond ring. :)

Crackle painted the scalloped chipboard. Love that fabric brad.

I like having these little hanging ribbons on my altered notebooks. They're pretty to look at and can be used as bookmarks too. Pretty and functional. :)

Grateful for the little things

One more layout from the fabulous September kit by My Scrapbook Nook using Pink Paislee's Amber Road papers. Switched it up this time by using a black cardstock as the background paper and played with some beautiful stamps by Purple Onion Designs.

Some close-ups:

I stamped a large damask stamp by Purple Onion Designs on the black cardstock using white embossing powder and used that as the base to build the rest of my layout on.

Layered on Pink Paislee Amber Road patterned papers, borderlines stickers, Maya Road velvet trim, Prima lace and a large Prima bloom.

To balance off the layout, I added a little cluster in the top left corner, incorporating a pretty butterfly stamp from Purple Onion Designs. Prima crystals make up the butterfly body and the crystal swirls its flutter trail.

Top Of The World

Here's a layout I created for a class at My Scrapbook Nook using the September kit which is loaded with Pink Paislee Amber Road goodies.

Some close-ups:

I cut out the tree from the Pink Paislee Autumn Blossoms paper, inking the edges and adding stickles to it for a bit of sparkle. The tree is popped up using dimensional dots.

I layered the title using Pink Paislee's borderline stickers, patterned paper and alphas. To complete the look, I added some Prima lace and pearls.

The layout from another angle. Here you can see that I popped up the tree and photo with 3D foam dots for some dimension.

Live Your Dreams

Don't you just love Pink Paislee's Amber Road collection? Dusky reds and greys, my kind of colour combination, perfect for a shabby-chic layout. Add to that the perfect grey Prima vine, Pink Paislee alphas, and you have the fabulous September kit from My Scrapbook Nook. :)

You've got to love those Prima flowers and Maya Road pearl pins.

Title work over dreamy Websters Pages lace.

Trying something new here. I stamped a Purple Onion Designs music score stamp on the top right corner, dusted it with white embossing powder and heated up the image. Then I applied a Pink Paislee rub-on right over the raised embossed image. Subtle. :)

Fashionista Display

These images from Graphic 45's Fashionista papers are so pretty I had to make a 3D display out of them. The theme of this display is all about TIME.

Here's another view from the top. You can see the dimension better here.

The display also folds into a flat card so I can mail it out if I wanted to. But this one's a keeper. :)

So Proud Of You

I'm having fun diving into my Graphic 45 papers. This one's created using the new Domestic Goddess papers. To change things up a bit, I created my own patterned paper using My Tattered Angels' Glimmer Screen and Glimmer Mists. I misted Jazz Blue and Olive Vine on cream cardstock, over a butterfly screen. I also stamped two Purple Onion butterfly stamps with clear versamark, then heat embossed it, so that the image of the butterflies would peek through. Unfortunately the photograph doesn't pick up this effect very well.

I really like these butterfly framed fonts from My Tattered Angels. The embossed designs on them are really intricate. The original chips come with monograms but I like to remove the alphas and use the frames for my titles. In this layout, I wanted to keep the original cream shade of the chipboard, so I just added some Rangers Stickles to highlight the embossed designs.

How many butterflies can you spot in this layout? There are six in all. One stencil, one chipboard, two stamped, and two on the Prima Flutter Vines. I got these Flutter Vines just yesterday. Fun!

I had a great time ripping the patterned papers to create this layout. Actually, if you look carefully at the backing Graphic 45 paper, you'll see several rips and tears in the paper. Erm... I didn't set out to do that on purpose. It just kind of tore while I was happily distressing the paper. Works for me! :)

Calendar Flower Tag

I was in a flower-making mood so decided to try making a flower from scratch. I stamped Purple Onion's 2009 Vintage Calendar Stamp on some white paper, inked it, and proceeded to create my flower. It turned out quite nice. :)

I then decided to create a tag out of Purple Onion's Antique Fair Set's scroll stamp. I stamped the same calendar stamp I used on the flowers onto the tag, deliberately smudging the ink. I then embellished with lots of different lace trims and an embroidered ribbon.

Graphic 45 Feature

Every few weeks, the Graphic 45 blog will do a feature on one of its design team members. I've enjoyed reading all about my fellow DT members and how we all bring such a different style to the team using the same Graphic 45 papers. Today's my turn to be featured. Here's the link: Graphic 45
